Sylvia Schramm often deals with the question of the first perception. Mostly it is colors of a picture that affect the viewer.
The colors let this work “FINALE” suggest the march of a group under the rainbow or even the final image of a fashion show. But it is not to be seen, where the people run? We see them only from behind. Currently we are confronted with many images of streams of refugees in long treks, fleeing from war and violence. The association is obvious that it is far less about a walk, but rather about people of “many colors”, who are perhaps also on the way to an indeterminate future.
Schramm’s artistic technique is digital painting, which she has developed into something unique with knowledge from painting. The motif is printed on a shiny metal plate using special, elaborate processes, creating a coexistence between the substrate and the paint. On the surface is then partially applied by the artist a layer of resin. The interplay between matte and gloss makes the colors appear particularly metallic luminous and plastic. Color and haptics characterize this impressive unique piece. Symbolically, to preserve the ephemeral, this work was framed “weighty” in industrial iron.
