The supermodels of the nineties, which later included Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss and others, gave character to fashion and fashion shows, and they made the nineties one of the greatest decades for runway fashion ever.
Sylvia Schramm shows Kate here as portraits of a perfect face, made entirely of flowers, a painting equal- delicate and confident in one. The work receives, through the hand-cast resin, metallic radiance and plasticity.
Through Schramm’s artistic realization, this fashionable appearance becomes a lasting piece of contemporary history.
Schramm’s artistic technique is digital painting, which she has developed into something unique with knowledge from painting. The motif is printed on a metal plate using special, elaborate processes and partially painted by hand with synthetic resin.
This creates a coexistence between the substrate, printing ink and paint application. This play allows the viewer to literally feel the figurative and characterizes her impressive unique piece. Symbolically, to preserve the ephemeral, this work was framed “weighty” in industrial iron.
