Description
The force of this work hits the viewer with great force. CLEAN SWEEP is the title and, according to Sylvia Schramm’s interpretation, the need to have made a “clean sweep”. It is imaginable – maybe because of a huge rage? A strong woman sits among broken pieces of glass and holds a hammer in her hand – did she have to free herself from her anger? Posture and expression do not indicate despair – on the contrary – a defeat of fate and liberation of the soul. Through the cutout format, a photo or a postcard is associated, suggesting that the circumstances that triggered the rage have been overcome and are past.
The complementary colors support the dynamics of the situation. Foreground and background are interwoven, but the stiletto connects the layers. The “sharpness” of the glass shards and their play of light is supported by the reflection of the partially visible metallic shine of the carrier plate.
