Description

This art object is available as a series of 2 works (day and night).

A vase with a bouquet of sunflowers reminded the artist of a famous painting by Vincent van Gogh and inspired Sylvia Schramm to this work. The sunflowers, as a symbol of life, are shown on the dress of the curved silhouette of a woman. The bulbous vase shape stabilizes the figure. Like a pattern the colors shimmer on the metal. The shape of the electrically illuminated neon tube follows the contour of a sunflower bouquet.

“Bouquet En Rouge” reminds of v. Gogh’s time in Paris, in the artists’ quarter. With its red neon glow and reddish colors, this second work seems to be like in the neon shine from the Moulin Rouge.

Technique

Schramms artistic technique is digital painting, which she has developed into something unique with the knowledge gained from painting. The motif is printed on a laser cut, hand-polished aluminium silhouette using special, elaborate processes. A coexistence between background and color is created. The colored neon tube and the metal object are screwed and connected to each other on a transparent plexiglass plate. A transformer is located on the back, with cables, light switches and plugs hanging from it. The plexiglass plate is deliberately ground robustly and has 2 holes at the top for hanging up.
