Description
Victoria’s Secret Shows are breathtaking through product, models, sex appeal, visual effects and music. In this work Sylvia Schramm takes the mood of this “magic spectacle” and lets it flow into her own version. Fashion is intentional, constant change, towards something new.
In today’s world we can create new outfits on the body through visual effects and these possibilities seem endless and also always dissolvable. But the work of Sylvia Schramm as such gets a real permanence in its lasting stability, becomes a lasting work of art and blurs the line between fashion and art.
Technique
Schramms artistic technique is digital painting, which she has developed into something unique with the knowledge gained from painting. The motif is printed onto a metal plate by means of a special, complex process, whereby a Coexistence between substrate and paint is created. The interplay between matt and shine makes the viewer literally feel the material and figurative and characterizes her impressive unique pieces. Symbolically, in order to preserve the ephemeral, this work was “weightily” framed in industrial iron.
