\"SYLVIA<\/a>Sylvia Schramm, born in Hamburg\/ Germany, started drawing and being interested in art at a young age. She studied\u00a0fashion\u00a0design at FHS Armgartstr., Hamburg,\u00a0worked as a model and traveled all over the world as a designer and a buying agent for years. Even after the birth of her two children, she continued her creative work; founding her own children\u2019s furniture company, exhibiting her painting and illustrations, and\u00a0creating\u00a0her own\u00a0fashion\u00a0collection.<\/p>\n

But fashion decays \u2013 art stays, which finally\u00a0made\u00a0her decide to work exclusively as an artist\u00a0in\u00a02013. It was her intention to blur the borders between the two\u00a0that led to this decision. Inspired by the culture of fashion, Sylvia Schramm now uses her large works of metal to turn\u00a0something\u00a0temporary into something persistent.<\/p>\n

The artist also loves to \u201eprovoke\u201c the art scene with her innate sense of beauty,\u00a0since she believes its braver these days to stand for an artwork that is allowed to be beautiful. Although her works transmit aesthetic and a strong\u00a0sense for color and shape,\u00a0they are critical of the fashion issue and its \u201eexcesses\u201c\u00a0as well. Each artwork hides a\u00a0thought provoking\u00a0association or story\u00a0within itself. With her depictions of women, she\u00a0represents\u00a0a multifaceted image of\u00a0the\u00a0female strength and\u00a0personality\u00a0in\u00a0our society today,\u00a0which is in tune with elegance or \u201egirl power\u201c.<\/p>\n

Sylvia Schramms artistic technique is\u00a0digital\u00a0painting,\u00a0which \u2013 due to her knowledge of painting \u2013 she developed into something unique. With a very elaborate and special procedure the\u00a0image\u00a0is printed onto a metal plate, what creates a coexistance between the metal panel and the color . The interplay between gloss and matt makes the viewer almost\u00a0directly\u00a0feel the\u00a0physical aspect\u00a0and shapes\u00a0of the impressive works\u00a0and characterizes her\u00a0unique\u00a0artworks. Symbolically, to preserve the fleeting of fashion, most of the artworks are framed \u201eheavily\u201c in iron bars.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a\u00a0similar technique but changing outlines,\u00a0Schramm developed further artworks from aluminium plates\u00a0that\u00a0arecalled the \u201eCutout\u201c – series. The figures seem to leave the picture and others are combined with\u00a0shaped\u00a0neon lights.<\/p>\n

Further, the artist created thrilling works for the \u201cLegendary Cycle Hamburg\u201d with the same technique, which deals with the connections between art and legends – \u201cART \u2018N\u2019 LEGENDS<\/a>.\u201d These works can be found as a permanent exhibition in the INDIAN showroom in Hamburg.<\/p>\n

Schramm’s native town inspired the \u201creal Hamburger\u201d to an impressive series with the theme of \u201cART AND THE CITY<\/a>\u201d. Hamburg is the center of abundant world history \u2013 fully in the spirit of her husband\u2019s grandfather, the historian Percy Ernst Schramm (1894-1970),\u00a0who wrote the book \u201cHamburg, Deutschland und die Welt\u201d among many others.<\/p>\n

Sylvia Schramm has exhibited her works in Hamburg, Amsterdam, and Berlin and is represented on Mallorca.<\/p>\n
